My father, who is a Board Certified Master Arborist®, instilled in me a love for trees and a commitment to preserving this invaluable resource.
From a young age, he would bring me along to the annual meetings of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Mid-Atlantic chapter, covering Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. These gatherings, held on university grounds, are a goldmine of knowledge, offering insights on proper tree care, safe work practices, and updates on current issues impacting our area, including emerging pests and diseases. The experts who speak at these seminars have always inspired me, and I have aspired to reach their level of professionalism.
I remember becoming a Certified Arborist in 2009, and what a milestone that was in my career. It was a way to signify my thorough understanding of tree biology and proper care techniques, distinguishing me as a dedicated professional in the tree care industry.
Today, I am proud to announce that I have reached the pinnacle of my profession by becoming an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist®, a credential held by fewer than two percent of ISA Certified Arborists worldwide. In addition to passing an extensive scenario-based exam, candidates must abide by a Code of Ethics, which ensures quality of work.
